Ailly Sheehama holds an LLM in International Oil and Gas Law & Policy from the Centre for Energy, Petroleum, Mineral and Policy, University of Dundee, UK. She is a registered candidate legal practitioner in Namibia and holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Namibia.

Biography

Ailly Sheehama holds an LLM in International Oil and Gas Law & Policy from the Centre for Energy, Petroleum, Mineral and Policy, University of Dundee, UK. She is a registered candidate legal practitioner in Namibia and holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Namibia.

She is currently working at the African Energy & Minerals Management Initiative (AEMI) as an Energy Consultant/Country Director representative of Namibia/Project Manager for the AEMI Mentorship programme. Her role involves assisting in the management and coordination of the AEMIs strategic initiatives. She previously worked as a Public Prosecutor at the Office of the Prosecutor-General in Namibia.

She has participated in policy commentaries such as reviewing and preparing written comments on the Draft Ethiopian Petroleum Resource Development Policy August (2020) and the Namibian Draft Regulations to the Wildlife And Protected Areas Management Bill 2021.

She is also a legal researcher and analyst and is soon to publish an AEMI policy paper titled THE ROLE OF COURTS IN ACCELERATING THE ENERGY TRANSITION: CULTURAL THEORY PERSPECTIVE, as well as having her work published in the Journal of Sustainable Development Law and Policy, Special Issue on: Energy Access and Energy Security in the Global South: Pertinent Issues Post- COVID 19, in an article titled EQUATOR PRINCIPLES 4-REVISED CLIMATE CHANGE RISK: WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR PROJECT FINANCING IN AFRICA, AMIDST THE ONGOING ENERGY TRANSITION?

She is part of the 2021 Student Energy Leader Fellowship, which aims to provide a platform for combining energy education, skills development, and mentorship from top energy players from around the world.

She is very proactive in participating on an international platform and networking with organizations where she can add actionable value by contributing her knowledge and skills.
